Son of a Bitch - Gimme a Gin Drink! (aka The Bywater)
UPDATE 6/7/2020: The official name of this drink is now "The Bywater", thanks to Kelli Carlson for naming this one.
I've been humming that song all day for some reason, probably because today was totally f'd from the get-go. And it's hot as nuts outside, for the first time in a really long time. Decided some gin might cool things off a bit, both literally and figuratively.
A few weeks ago we lifted a recipe from Bon Appetite for a rye-based drink called the Witty Comeback. Got a little ginger simple syrup left, so we pivot a bit, add some veg and voila! Something familiar but new.
Not really in the mood to shake, stir, strain or do anything else that may cause additional stress, so we'll assemble this one quickly. I also don't have the inclination to name this either, so make up something clever and let us know, love to hear some ideas.
Muddle a basil leaf or two in the bottom of a glass with 1/2 part ginger simple syrup.
Add to glass;
2 parts good floral Gin, we used Hendrick's Midsummer Solstice for this one.
1 part lemon juice
Add ice to the top and give it a good stir for 30 seconds or so. Top off with ice. Float some basil leaves on there if you're feeling fancy.
