Cinco de Mayo Spicy Jalapeno Margaritas
This simplest of recipes for a spicy spin on the classic margarita will impress guests, but may also become your daily go-to cocktail. For a classic margarita, simply replace the jalapeno simple syrup with regular simple syrup.
If you still want it spicy but don't feel like making jalapeno simple syrup, muddle some peppers in the bottom of the shaker.
Jalapeno simple syrup:
Bring to a boil, 1 cup of water with 1 cup of sugar and 2 Jalapeño peppers, split in half with stem removed. Boil 5 minutes and turn off heat, let cool. Place in jar in refrigerator to chill.
Spicy Jalapeno MargaritasPlace in a cocktail shaker;
- 4 parts Tequila
- 2 Parts Lime Juice
- 1 Part Simple Syrup
Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
- Use a great quality tequila, we like Hornitos Black, or use a nice Mezcal if you prefer the smoky taste (or half and half!)
- If serving neat, use tall coupe or martini glasses. If serving on the rocks, use a high ball or traditional margarita glass.
- Rub rim of glass with lime and coat in salt or Tajin, if desired. Garnish with jalapeno slice and lime slice.
